We are a third generation farming family in Suffolk, we are privileged to be able to carry on this tradition of farming livestock. Dingley Dell Pigs are born, reared and grown outdoors all year round. The farm provides a stimulating environment that enables the animals to express their natural, inquisitive behaviour. Just as importantly, we believe that great welfare is about the human-animal interaction and so we strive to create an environment that is also calm and nurturing. The biggest single factor influencing taste is intramuscular fat ( IMF ) , or marbling, within the meat, and marbling is a readily heritable trait. We've spent a lot of time and patience developing our own unique on farm breeding programme, within which we have perfected techniques to identify and breed from the most heavily marbled females and males - improving the IMF in each generation. We recently have had our unique breeding programme approved and registered by DEFRA who have recognised our own specialised breed The Suffolk Red. For many years we have supplied chefs and restaurants both in the UK and internationally with our products and regularly host farm tours to showcase how we farm our animals and how we farm in order to benefit our environment.
